ACTS of LOVE & KINDNESS: Spreading the Love with Communications
Needless to say, communications in rural Peru does not hold the same weight of importance as it does in more developed countries, such as Canada, the United States and Europe. However, what if you’re an organization in rural Peru and are trying to reach volunteers and backpackers in these more developed countries?
It is crucial for organizations like this to look for their intended audiences in the right places and provide them with comprehensive, detailed and accurate information.
This is where my “Act of Love & Kindness” comes in.
Two years ago, I worked with Mosoq Ayllu, a non-profit organization in Huancayo, Peru and have kept in touch with the director, Juan Jose. He recently decided to turn his family home into a guest house for travellers wanting to discover the Andean city, as well as provide them with the opportunity to turn their vacation into a volunteer-cation and work in orphanages, a street kids program, a school for children with disabilities or in doctors’ offices.
To market the guest house, Juan Jose developed a web site. After going through it, I saw a number of inconsistencies, grammar and spelling errors and confusions. This became my Valentine’s Day project – to make the new website error-free and clear.
